| Preanalytics/Notes: | Carefully tilt blood count tubes several times (to avoid blood clotting). Do not take citrated blood first, fill exactly up to the mark, centrifuge, remove citrated plasma, transfer into an empty tube without additives and freeze. |

A bleeding tendency can more… A bleeding tendency can have multifactorial causes. It can be a thrombocytopenia (especially petechiae and sugillations), a von Willebrand's syndrome or a factor deficiency. Here it is important to rule out the haemophilia A (factor VIII deficiency) and the haemophilia B (factor IX deficiency). But also the rare factor VII deficiency can lead to major bleeding. A tendency to postoperative bleeding can be triggered by a factor XIII deficiency. In the case of a suspected von Willebrand's syndrome, repeated diagnosing may partly be required until exclusion. |
| Further tests: | If the symptoms persist and a von Willebrand's syndrome has been ruled out repeatedly, the determination of a platelet function disorder is recommended in a specialized centre. |
