Interpretation: |
Increased CRP values more… Increased CRP values usually indicate bacterial infections with a significantly stronger increase of CRP concentration than with viral infections: CRP values > 10 mg/l can thus be considered an indication of a bacterial infection. With CRP values > 100 mg/l, it is almost always a bacterial infection with an indication for blood culture diagnostics. With bacterial meningitides, values of > 100 mg/l are frequently found, with viral meningitides, CRP values may still lie within the reference range. Elevated values in the postsurgical phase may indicate complications, e.g. infections or tissue necrosis. The determination of highly sensitive CRP (ultra-sensitive CRP, hsCRP) is recommended to assess the risk of cardiovascular diseases. |
