Prothrombin time (quick test) (Citrated plasma (cp), frozen)

Prolongation of the thromboplastin time (low Quick value):

• Vitamin K deficiency

• • Unbalanced diet lacking in vegetables

  • Intestinal malassimilation/malabsorption syndrome with damage of the intestinal mucosa (e.g. sprue)

  • Severe hepatic disease

  • Therapy with vitamin K antagonists

• Consumptive coagulopathy, loss coagulopathy, hyperfibrinolysis

• Hereditary deficiency states: congenital deficiency in factors II, V, VII, X.

  The thromboplastin time approximately reflects the extent of the decrease in the factors.

• Fibrinogen deficiency, dysfibrinogenaemia

• Acquired inhibitors against the above-mentioned factors (very rare)

Notes:

With haemophilia A, haemophilia B and von Willebrand's disease, normal thromboplastin time!

With Marcumar ® therapy take into account drug interactions (in particular antibiotics) and the influence of foodstuffs containing vitamin K, especially all kinds of cabbage and green vegetables, raw sauerkraut, raw vegetables, raw meat, lettuce, raw carrots, strawberries, tomatoes, chocolate.
