| Testcode: | E_PORBPU |
| Specimens: | 10 ml Urine (u), frozen |
| Info: | Based on our yearlong experience with porphyria diagnostics we have modified our parallel diagnosis protocol to a stepwise diagnosis protocol. This new protocol consists of a first step with HPLC differentiation of the porphyrins, which, only in case of clinically significant results is followed by a subsequent determination of the porphyrine precursors delta aminolevulinic acid and porphobilinogen and will be charged for. Our decision is based on our long-term observations that there was never a case with a normal porphyrine excretion but clinically significantly increased porphyrine precursors. Our new protocol will allow us to deliver you the final porphyria results faster and in most cases without the extra costs for the determination of the porphyrine precursors. |
| includes following tests: | Porphyrins total incl. differ. (u) (Urine (u)) Coproporphyrin III (24h u) (Urine (u)) Coproporphyrin I (24h u) (Urine (u)) |
| Preanalytics/Notes: | 24 h urine or spot urine under acute symptoms. Protect from direct light. |
