Insulin resistance is a significant pathomechanism in the development of type 2 diabetes and can often be observed even years before it manifests itself within the scope of a metabolic syndrome. Furthermore, a restricted insulin sensitivity can often be found in patients with fertility disorders in PCO syndrome. In pathogenesis, insulin resistance is a major cause of PCO syndrome. Insulin resistance is thus frequently the cause of infertility and menstrual disorders. |
