blood grouping (EDTA blood (eb))

Please note: According to German transfusion guidelines, the correct labeling of the sample and the order form with complete patient identity data is legally required for all types of blood group typing and blood group-related tests. The order form must be completely filled out and signed by the physician taking the sample. The requesting physician is responsible for the identity of the sample.

The following information must be identical on the sample container and the order form:

Last name, First name *Date of birth (DD.MM.YYYY) 

A separate EDTA sample is required solely for blood typing. No further tests can be performed from EDTA sample for blood typing.

For quality assurance purposes, requests with incomplete, incorrect or discrepant patient data cannot be processed!

The test includes:

• serological ABO phenotyping
• serological Rhesus phenotyping
• antibody screening

A positive antibody screening test does not automatically include antibody identification. If simultaneous antibody identification is desired, please additionally note "Antibody screen with identification" on the request form.

Stability of EDTA sample: 5 days
