Please note: According to German transfusion guidelines, the correct labeling of the sample and the order form with complete patient identity data is legally required for all types of blood group typing and blood group-related tests. The order form must be completely filled out and signed by the physician taking the sample. The requesting physician is responsible for the identity of the sample.

The following information must be identical on the sample container and the order form:

Last name, First name *Date of birth (DD.MM.YYYY) 

For quality assurance purposes, requests with incomplete, incorrect or discrepant patient data cannot be processed!

 

The test includes:

  • antibody screening
  • antibody identification, if antibody screening is positive

Stability of EDTA sample: 5 days

Duration: 1 day
Indication/Significance:
  • Part of very blood grouping test
  • Transfusions: The antibody screening is performed before every transfusion event and has to be repeated in cross-match test, if the blood sample with which the last antibody screening was carried out was drawn more than 3 days before. Exception: resultd valid for 7 days if there was no transfusion or pregnancy in the previous 3 months
  • Pregnancy:  The test is performed to identify irregular maternal antibodies against RBC antigens which can possibly penetrate the placenta and cause fetal hemolysis 

  • Within the scope of the prematernity medical care in Germany, the antibody screening has to be performed twice during pregnancy: 4th to 8th and 24th to 27th week of pregnancy. A third test is recommended for Rh-negative mothers in the second trimenon.

If the result of the antibody screening is positive, additional antibody differentiations is necessary in many cases.

Die Kosten werden für den i. d. R. genutzten 1,15-fachen GOÄ-Satz dargestellt. Wird die Unter­suchung nicht in Ihrem regionalen Labor durch­geführt, erfolgt die Analyse in dem Labor, das im Leistungs­ver­zeich­nis genannt ist. In diesem Fall gilt der dort für die Untersuchung angegebene Preis.
