|
| Interpretation: |
Vitamin K is necessary more… Vitamin K is necessary for the activation of the coagulations factors II, VII, IX, X and for the synthesis of protein C and S. A deficiency can result in a bleeding tendency (reduced Quick value). If there is a vitamin K deficiency, the other fat-soluble vitamins A, D and E should also be checked. Overdoses lead to increased concentrations, but not to clinical symptoms and are thus not clinically relevant. Note: The fat-soluble vitamin K is especially contained in green plants (e.g. Brussel sprouts, cauliflower, kale, spinach, broccoli) and is additionally produced by intestinal bacteria. A deficiency thus especially develops if the fat absorption is disturbed (e.g. pancreatic insufficiency, cholestasis, coeliac disease). |
