Vitamin C (HPLC) (Heparin plasma, frozen (hp))

Take approx. 5 ml of heparin blood (e.g. lithium heparin), centrifuge and transfer supernatant heparin plasma into an empty (additive-free) secondary tube, label it accordingly and freeze and also dispatch deep-frozen.

• Suspected vitamin C deficiency (scurvy)

• An unbalanced diet poor in vitamin C, inadequate nutrition in elderly persons having difficulties chewing (not enough fresh fruit and vegetables)

• Food from large kitchens (when kept warm for a long time)

• Cooking in copper pots

A vitamin C deficiency is rare with a customary diet in Germany.
