Indication/Significance:	Diagnostic assessment, follow up of squamous-cell carcinomas SCC is the marker of first choice for the prognosis assessment, therapy and follow up of certain squamous-cell carcinomas, in particular of the cervix, oesophagus, lungs, anal canal and the oropharyngeal region.
Interpretation:	Increased: Squamous-cell more… Increased: Squamous-cell carcinoma (with these tumours, SCC has the highest sensitivity, yet not specifically for one tumour type). After successful therapy, normalisation within 7 days. Elevated values can also be found in many benign diseases such as renal insufficiency and benign skin diseases (e.g. psoriasis). That is why the marker is not suitable for screenings. close
