Indication/Significance: |
- Testing those who had contact with an index case with regard to risk contact
Exclusion of a LTBI (latent tuberculosis infection) as a risk in immunosuppression: - Prior to immunomodulatory therapy, e.g. TNF alpha blockers (infliximab)
- In rheumatic therapy and with Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis or for HIV patients up to approx. 100 CD4 cells/µl
- Prior to organ transplants and with malignant diseases
Occupational issues: - Status ascertainment when being employed in pulmological institutions, laboratory staff as alternative to TST (tuberculin skin test)
- Suspected active TB as supporting statement in close comparison with medical history and clinical parameters, yet not as replacement for radiological and microbiological verification procedures
Analysis is indicated: - Prior to the commencement of an immunosuppressive treatment
- Prior to organ transplants (kidney, heart, lungs, liver, pancreas)
- Prior to dialysis treatment
- Prior to a decision on the treatment of an infection with mycobacterium tuberculosis complex in the case of a HIV infection
