Quantiferon-TB Gold PlusTest (Other)

Four special tubes incl. instructions on the preanalytical phase can be obtained from the laboratory. 

• Testing those who had contact with an index case with regard to risk contact

Exclusion of a LTBI (latent tuberculosis infection) as a risk in immunosuppression:

• Prior to immunomodulatory therapy, e.g. TNF alpha blockers (infliximab)
• In rheumatic therapy and with Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis or for HIV patients up to approx. 100 CD4 cells/µl
• Prior to organ transplants and with malignant diseases

Occupational issues:

• Status ascertainment when being employed in pulmological institutions, laboratory staff as alternative to TST (tuberculin skin test)
• Suspected active TB as supporting statement in close comparison with medical history and clinical parameters, yet not as replacement for radiological and microbiological verification procedures

Analysis is indicated:

• Prior to the commencement of an immunosuppressive treatment
• Prior to organ transplants (kidney, heart, lungs, liver, pancreas)
• Prior to dialysis treatment
• Prior to a decision on the treatment of an infection with mycobacterium tuberculosis complex in the case of a HIV infection

Proof of acid-fast rods, e.g. in the sputum/bronchial secretion, TBC cultures, DNA PCR assay from testing material of the affected person
