Preanalytics/Notes:	Send in 10 ml of urine either from the second morning sample. Do not acidify the sample.

Interpretation:	Prerenal proteinuria is more… Prerenal proteinuria is suspected if albumin accounts for less than 30 % of the total protein in the case of a protein excretion of more than 300 mg/l. This can be attributable to, for example, a Bence Jones proteinuria, myoglobinuria or haemoglobinuria. A glomerular proteinuria is characterised by an increased albumin excretion. A tubular proteinuria is marked by the detection of alpha-1-microglobulin. Every increase of this protein in the urine indicates a functional impairment of the tubular protein resorption. close
