Preanalytics/Notes:	To ascertain the correct glucose value, the measurement of glucose in NaF/citrate plasma (GlucoEXACT tubes etc.) is recommended; sodium fluoride in combination with citrate inhibits the glycolysis and thereby the degradation of glucose. Dependent on the time of sampling, different qualities of glucose can be mentioned: Fasting glucose: Blood sampling in the morning before breakfast Preprandial glucose: Blood sampling 30 - 60 minutes before insulin dosing Postprandial glucose: Blood sampling usually 2 hours after a meal Diurnal glucose profile: Combination of fasting, preprandial and postprandial glucose, blood sampling e.g. 8:00am, 11:00am and 2:00pm Random glucose: Blood sampling carried out in the course of the day or night, independent of meals.
