Preanalytics/Notes:	Blood sampling after at least 12 h of fasting. Centrifuge blood immediately after coagulation, remove serum. Freeze serum, dispatch deep-frozen. Patients must stop taking antacid and anticholinergic agents at least 24 h before blood sampling. Treatment with substituted benzimidazoles (proton pump blockers) or H2 receptor antagonists should be discontinued at least 1 week before blood sampling. Hypergastrinaemia up to the 22-fold baseline value can be observed under therapy with proton pump blockers or H2 blockers. Patients receiving high doses of Biotin (> 5 mg/day) should be sampled at least 8 hours after the last aplication, as high levels of the Biotin may interfere with the test system.
