Preanalytics/Notes:	Blood sampling during the periovulatory phase for the assessment of the ovarian function. Patients receiving high doses of biotin (> 5 mg / day) should be sampled at least 8 hours after the last application, as high levels of biotin may interfere with the test system.

Elevated values: Periovulatory phase, drug-induced polyovulations, oversubstitution, oestrogen-producing tumours Decreased values: Primary ovarian insufficiency (e.g. postmenopause) Secondary ovarian insufficiency (e.g. hypophyseal insufficiency, administration of ovulation inhibitors) In men, elevated oestradiol levels can be found, e.g. in the case of adiposity and liver cirrhosis as well as oestrogen-forming tumours (rare) close
