Preanalytics/Notes:	In patients receiving therapy with high biotin doses (i.e. > 5 mg/day) no sample should be taken until at least 8 hours after the last biotin administration, as high dosis biotin application might disturbe the assay. Please note: results obtained using different methods and/or test manufacturers cannot be compared with one another. The course of tumor markers should always be assessed by the same test.

Interpretation:	CYFRA 21-1 is the marker more… CYFRA 21-1 is the marker of first choice for the diagnosis, follow up and prognosis assessment of the non-small cell lung carcinoma. CEA should be determined additionally as second marker. Apart from the neuron specific enolase (NSE), CYFRA 21-1 is the second marker for the small cell lung carcinoma. Approx. 95 % of the benign lung diseases have levels below 3.3 ng/ml. Levels above 10 ng/ml can be found with benign diseases only in very rare cases. CYFRA 21-1 is also a comparably good marker of the muscle-invasive bladder carcinoma (superior to TPA/TPS). See table under "Tumour marker". close
