Indication/Significance:	Acute myocardial infarction Confirmation of myocardial diseases (e.g. myocarditis) Follow up of the myocardial infarction In the myocardium, CK-MB reaches its highest activity. In connection with total CK and the troponins, CK-MB is still used as an important biochemical marker with acute myocardial infarction.
Interpretation:	If total CK activity is more… If total CK activity is increased (> 250 U/l), CK-MB values > 24 U/l and > 6 % of total CK activity indicate a damage of the cardiac musculature. CK-MB values < 6 % and increased total CK values can be an indication of a skeletal musculature damage. CK-MB values > 25 % of total CK activity give reason to suspect a macro CK. The determination of the CK and CK-MB activity is not suitable for the risk assessment in patients with unstable angina pectoris; the determination of troponin T is indicated in such a case. close
