Indication/Significance:	Tumour marker in the case of a known ovarian carcinoma: Therapy monitoring, follow up and diagnosis of recurrence. Not suitable for screening!
Interpretation:	CA 125 is the marker of more… CA 125 is the marker of first choice for the diagnosis and therapy or follow up of ovarian carcinoma. The sensitivity stated is 82 - 96 %. It can be used as second choice marker for the pancreatic carcinoma. The antigen defined by a monoclonal antibody, however, is neither specific for these tumours nor for malignant diseases. Elevated values can also be found with other, especially gynaecological and gastro-intestinal carcinomas (e.g. colorectal carcinoma 20 - 39 %, cervix carcinoma 13 - 54 %).
