Interpretation:	False-positive more… False-positive immunoassay drug screenings can occure by cross-reaction of the immunoassay with pharmaceuticals and their metabolites or food components. Therefore and in agreement with international standards, positive immunoassay screening results are confirmed by mass spectrometry. New psychoactive substances (NPS) like designer amphetamines, designer benzodiazepines, synthetic cannabinoids or designer opiates are usually not detected by the common immunoassay drug screening. In the case of suspected NPS abuse, mass spectrometry is mandatory and it should be requested on the formular with additional information about which designer drug group should be tested for. close
