Preanalytics/Notes:	24-h urine (state amount collected). Store urine in a cool place during the 24 h collection period. Fill urine sample (10 ml) into urine tube and mix with 4-5 drops of 20% hydrochloric acid. Make sure the rest periods during the collection period are long enough, patients should stop taking antihypertensive agents 8 hours beforehand, if possible, and aldosterone antagonists approx. 4 weeks beforehand.

Indication/Significance:	Suspected renovascular hypertonia Suspected primary/secondary hyperaldosteronism, e.g. adrenocortical adenoma (Conn's syndrome), adrenocortical hyperplasia. In most cases the simultaneous determination of the renin concentration and the determination of the aldosterone/renin ratio (ARR) is appropriate for the correct assessment.
