Specimens:	1 ml Citrated plasma, frozen (cp)
Preanalytics/Notes:	Please always send an additional second specimen for this test in case of further tests required. To avoid clotting please mix test tube carefully several times directly after collection of blood. Centrifugation process should be started after about 60 minutes. Please centrifuge sample at least for 15 minutes (1500 x g). Plasma / supernatant should be transferred by pipette to a collection tube without any buffer or other substances. Please label as citrated plasma. Freeze and send frozen.

Indication/Significance:	Diagnostic assessment of a low Quick value of unclear origin, usually only makes sense with factors V, VII and X Anamnestic bleeding tendency or known factor deficiency in the family Note: To rule out a thrombosis tendency, request factor II genetic mutation, see also thrombophilia diagnostics.
Interpretation:	Isolated reduction in more… Isolated reduction in the case of: Congenital defect with reduced synthesis or synthesis of a dysfunctional factor II molecule (both extremely rare!) Combined decrease with factors VII, X and XI in the case of: Liver insufficiency in the case of acute or chronic liver disease with a decrease of the synthesis capacity Therapy with anticoagulants (vitamin K antagonists e.g. coumarin derivates) Vitamin K deficiency Thrombin inhibitors, factor Xa inhibitors Increased factor II activity: Reactive after administration of vitamin K Postoperative An isolated factor II analysis is rarely indicated. close
