Critical from: 40 µg/ml There is currently no general therapeutic range for amoxicillin. The effectiveness of ß-lactam antibiotics essentially depends on the length of time in which the drug level is above the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of the pathogen. In some publications, the expert opinion is represented here to aim for four times the minimum inhibitory concentration (PK/PD target range: 100%fT> 4x MIC). According to EUCAST, the MIC breakpoints for amoxicillin are <=4 mg/l µg/ml) for enterococci tested to be susceptible, and <=0.5 mg/l (µg/ml) for viridans streptococci. The nonspecies specific limit is <=2 mg/l (µg/ml). To avoid undesirable effects, through levels >40 µg/ml should be avoided.
